About our school

Marks Point is located 23 km south of Newcastle and is situated between the Pacific Ocean, and Lake Macquarie. The suburb is named after the Marks brothers and is one of the oldest suburbs in the Lake Macquarie area.

The suburb has a broad socio-economic background, with the school attracting equity funding. We are proud members of our Galgabba Community of Schools which includes; Blacksmiths PS, Caves Beach PS, Nords Wharf PS, Pelican Flat PS, Swansea PS and Swansea HS.

Students at Marks Point Public School learn in a stimulating and challenging environment where they are encouraged to reach their full potential.

The school has a strong literacy and numeracy focus using evidence-based best practice in all teaching and learning programs. We cater for the 'whole child' with an emphasis on Student Wellbeing, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and implementing both remedial support and extension programs.

Our Equity Funding has allowed the employment of additional staff to support our goals. We offer students a wide range of sporting activities during school hours in addition, we also run the Sporting Schools Program after school hours.

Our students also participate in the creative arts, with students performing in Starstruck, Aerobics competitions, after school dance groups, guitar and drumming lessons and in-school creative arts activities.

Strong academic programs, dedicated staff and excellent facilities offer your child the very best opportunities for success. Marks point Public School students thrive in a safe and nurturing learning community that develops the school's core values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence.

There is a strong bond between all members of the school community, resulting in a harmonious and nurturing school environment.
